 The Disciplesの名前は１９８６年に、UK＃１の伝説的なサウンド オペレーター、Jah Shaka によって Russ& Lol Bell-Brown兄弟につけられた。当時、彼らは特別にShakaのサウンドの為にダブをプロデュースしていた。彼らの音楽は未完成だったが、ダンスでは Shakaの雷の様に繰り出されるベースラインが旋律をロックさせて観客達を喜ばせた。 ９１年から兄弟は彼ら独自のサウンド・システムを結成し、その後５年間ほどは Iration Steppers, Abashanti I, Channel One, Rootsman, Joey Jay等、多々のアーティストから、ダブ面での挑戦を受け続ける事になる。彼らは UKのスケールを飛び回り、毎回確実にダンスを揺るがした。しかし、９６年にLol がビジネスから手を引く事になり、 Russ D. (Disciple)はDJを続けながらサウンドを売り出していった。
そして彼はその何年か後に、長年の友である Jonah Danとパートナーを組み、ヨーロッパ中をめぐった。数々のダンスをイスラエルと米国でもこなし、彼らは出来る限り遠くまで、彼らの言葉と創造物を伝え続けている。 The Disciplesは９３年に彼ら独自のレーベル Boom-Shacka-Lackaを設立するまでに Jah Shakaの影響を受けつつ、４枚のアルバムを出した。彼等の初リリース、Prowling Lionはシーンに嵐を呼び、未だ引き続き売り続けている。次から次へと新しいリリースも絶えない。 Russ D.は９６年にセカンド レーべル、Backyard Movementsも設立した。リリースの狙いは、当時のルーツレゲエ ビジネスで、ボーカルの要素を重点的に取り込むスタイルを起用し、 Wayne McArthur, Delory Dyer, Danny Vibes, Tony Roots, Christine Miller and Kenny Knots, Prince Allah, Prince Malachi, Lutan Fyah, Ras McBean等のローカル アーティストと共に制作された。ディスコグラフィーは今現在でアルバム２０枚、シングル５０枚程といった数にまで達している。そしてまだまだリリースは続きそうだ。
彼らの音楽はレゲエであり、バイブスであり、 ルーツ アンド カルチャーであり、輝かしいダブである。７０年代の Jamaican ルーツからモダンな Jamaica/UK ルーツやダブまでを操ってくれる。Jonah Danが彼独特の真似出来ないスタイルを使いながらリリックで正義を唱えてMCを果たし、Russ D. が曲をかけながらサウンドを運行して、Bingiドラムの不思議な音が音楽のバイブスをどこまでも広げていくのだ。

Russ D. producer of Reggae & Dub since 1986. Labels Boom-Shacka-Lacka, Backyard Movements & Disciples Vintage.
Steeped in the history of reggae music there where selections played from all era`s, going back to the 60`s, thru the 70`s, 80`s and 90`s and onwards. Their dances showcased much of thier own productions which have included artists like Sister Rasheda, Creation Stepper, Prince Allah, Prince Malachi, Anthony Que, Michael Rose, Bunny Lie Lie, Lutan Fyah, Ras Mac Bean, Laza, Christine Miller, Tony Roots, Murrey Man, Colour Red, Dixie Peach, Errol Bellot, Sandeeno, Micah Shemaiah, Teddy Dan and Vivian Jones amongst them, as well as production works and remixes for labels like Universal Roots, Roots Hytek, Addis Records, Irie-Ites, Wizz Kidz, Manilla Jeepney, Jah Warrior, Jah Tubby, Cultural Warriors, Taitu, Black Redemption, Calabash and many more.
