Massive AttackやWILD BUNCHと共に、 数々のオリジナリティあふれる革新的な音楽を生み出し続ける世界の音楽の発信地"ブリストル・ミュージックのレジェンド、スミス＆マイティ"ROB SMITH a.k.a RSD"！！ 80年代前半より、レゲエバンドのレストリクションで活動を開始。その後、レイ・マイティと共に、ブリストル・ミュージックの代表格として君臨するスミス&マイティとしての活動を始め、マッシヴ・アタックのファースト・シングルをプロデュース。そして バカラックの古典をブリストル流に解釈した「エニィワン」の大ヒットによって、マッシヴ・アタックと並ぶブリストルの顔としてメディアに大々的に取り上げられるようになる。これまでに「ベース・イズ・マターナル」「ビッグ・ワールド・スモール・ワールド」「ライ フ・イズ ...」2003年には初のベストアルバム「フロム・ベース・トゥ・ヴァイブレーショ ン」を発表。また、ロブは、初期のマッシヴ・ア タックにも参加していたピーターDとのドラムンベース・ユニット“モア・ロッカーズ”での活動も精力的に行っており、2004年にはアルバム「セレクション3-トライド・アンド・テスティド」をリリース。DJ-Kicksより「Smith & Mighty」、ソロアルバム「アップ・オン・ザ・ダウンズ」を発表。09'年には、ブリストルのパンチ・ドランク・レコードの記念すべき１枚目のアルバムとして「グッドエナジー」をリリースする。 2009年スミス&マイティーとして【METAMORPHOSE】に来日。現在進行形のブリストル・ミュージックで多くの日本のクラウドを沸かせた。そして、2011年には、ZETTAI-MUよりニューアルバム「GO IN A GOODWAY」をリリース、同年３月の"SMITH&MIGHTY"公演は震災の影響により中止になったが、急遽 DOMMUNEによる【WE PRAY FOR JAPAN】に出演、日本中を音楽の力で勇気づけた。近年はスミス＆マイティの進化版とも言えるダブステップ名義"RSD"で数々の傑作を生み出し【GRASTONBERY FESTIVAL】【OUTLOOK FESTIVAL】【Deep Space NYC】等オーディエンスを魅了しつづけている。2014年には、"Rebel Sound (Chase & Status + Rage, David Rodigan, Shy FX)" など世界中で話題になった【Red Bull Music Academy - Red Bull Culture Clash】Bristol大会において(Rsd + Pinch + SGT Pokes + Joker + Jakes + Chef + Riko Dan)"Subloaded Sound force"として、Winnerに輝いたのも記憶に新しい。レゲエ～ダブ～ジャングル～ドラムンベース～ダブステップのトップ・クリエーター／トップDJとして世界中に広がるこのシーンのリビングレジェンド！正真正銘、最新最核の現在進行形のブリストルサウンド！

RSD, perhaps better known as Bristol bass music stalwart Rob Smith and one half of the respected production duo Smith and Mighty, has been pushing bass heavy rhythms for more than two decades.  
Forming the, now legendary, production duo Smith and Mighty with collaborator Ray Mighty in 1987, the pair’s early releases on the Three Stripe label were influential in laying the groundwork for both the trip hop and jungle scenes for which Bristol would become renowned.  As well as their own releases, they take production credit for Massive Attacks first release ’Any Love’ and Fresh Fours top ten hit ’Wishing on a star’.  From there it went to a world-wide respected musical career as Smith & Mighty – with world-tours and releases on K7 – including the now legendary DJ Kicks Mix series.  Rob remains firmly at the forefront of Bristol’s endlessly inventive music scene, with a staggering discography and a range of projects encompassing dub, drum and bass, 2-step and dubstep, Rob Smith has his finger squarely on the bass-pulse.  Under the moniker RSD, Rob Smith produces fresh, innovative bass music that simultaneously pays dues to his deep soundsystem roots while pushing things ever forward.  He comfortably adapts to the rolling, sub- heavy rhythms of dubstep. With releases on respected labels including Punch Drunk, Earwax, Tectonic, Black Box and Moonshine, RSD’s sound is typified by impossibly heavy soundsystem-testing sub-lines and junglist dub breaks.  On the DJ front, RSD is constantly touring the world, he stopped in Switzerland, Holland, Sweden, Slovenia – toured through Asia (China, Japan, Thailand, Philippines and Vietnam) and of course performed all over the UK – the summer months are filled with festival, outdoor and club gigs in Finland, Ukraine, France, Slovakia, Poland, UK’s Glastonbury festival and as resident DJ at Croatia´s Outlook Festival, and as a glorious end to a very busy 2011,  “RSD” released Go In A Goodway from “Zettai-Mu. RSD appeared in “WE PRAY FOR JAPAN” by DOMMUNE in haste and empowered/encouraged Japan by music. RSD performed on New Year´s Eve at the massive Electronic Ballroom event in Tokyo alongside Francois K, Goth-Trad and DJ Kentaro from Ninja Tune Japan plus many others. in 2012, Rob was reunited with Ray Mighty for a massive Tokyo date with Mad Professor. 2014, RSD performed Deep Space NYC also Red Bull Culture Clash Bristols Winner Subloaded Sound force with Pinch, SGT Pokes, Joker, Jakes. He is the legend of the present tense of the world wide scene as the top creator/ the top DJ for reggae, Dubstep, Drum & Bass and Jungle Amazing Bristol music.

　20年以上もの間 年間 100 本近いギグを行い、これまでに日本・アジア・UK・ヨーロッパなど 40回以上のツアー行脚を行っている彼は、LEE PERRYの来日ツアーをはじめ、JAH SHAKA、LKJ、DENNIS BOVELL、ADRIAN SHERWOOD、ABA SHANTI といった Roots Reggae / Dub の来日公演から、世界最大のサウンドクラッシュ「Red Bull Culture Clash」においてGrand Winnerに輝いた Rebel Soundの SHY FXをはじめ、CONGO NATTY、RONI SIZE REPRAZENT、ANDY C、DEGO、The BUG、MALA（DMZ）等の Jungle / Drum and Bass / Dubstepのアクト、グラミー賞5冠制覇のDAFTPUNKの初来日、UnderworldのDERREN EMERSON、近年にはJAMES BLAKEの初来日公演のACTも務める。またカリフォルニア のFLYING LOTUS、NY・ブルックリンの COMPANY FLOW、AESOP ROCK、NINJA TUNE といったHipHop / Beats系、国内では「HAPPERS ALL STARS（Audio Active. 　初期のリリースは「MOU」という名義で (w/NHK Koyxen) ドイツの名門 『MILLE PLATEAUX (ミルプラトー)』よりABSTRACT HIPHOPの先駆け『ELECTLIC LADY LAND』等にDJ SPOOKYやDJ VADIM、TECHNO ANIMAL(THE BUG)等と並びクレジットされている。またコンピレーション『響現』や CISCO RecordsよりDRY&HEAVYのベーシスト AKIMOTO"HEAVY"TAKESHI をフィーチャリングした楽曲をリリースしている。1945名義では TIGHTシリーズのMIXを煙突レコーディングスよりリリース。リミキサーとしても Audio ActiveのRemixをOn-u soundよりリリース。REBEL FAMILIA、ORIGINAL LOVE等の作品を解体～再構築し、ロンドン ICA などでのコンテンポラリーアートショウや、アメリカ ネバダ州 Burning Manでのプロジェクトに楽曲を提供するなど活動は多岐にわたる。そして Jungle～D'N'B 黎明期の片仮名「クラナカ」という名義ももちろん彼であり、世界中で愛用されている KORG「KAOSS PAD」Delay + Reverbe + Siren、、が、彼のプレイからヒントを得て開発された事はあまり知られていない。

Born in Kyoto, Japan. He is a descendant of the temples of the one of the most famous Buddhist monk in Japan history, the initiator of the Buddhist incantation chanting, drumbeating, and dancing (origin of the Bon festival dance).
　He makes full use of his 11 faces and 1000 arms to continue to be the beacon of peace and revolution, from his underground performances in Japan. His riddim to be combined with his open minded instruments that build-up upon, the Super heavyweight bass that goes back and forth with the whole body, with dub effects that of a beast, letting the floor dance madly with joy.
　He is a Dub. Jungle. Downtempo and Japan Deep&Heavy music pioneer who has been the undisputed leader in the genres for the past 21 years. He has performed at over 2000 gigs, and has organized more than 500 Dances until now.　He has organized w famous and important Dance in Japan "Zettai-Mu" began in 1995 (Bay Side Jenny, Noon, Liquidroom, Unit, Yellow, Eleven, AIR, Rockets, Motherhall, Open Air and more) and then "Outlook Festival Japan" (ageHa Studio Coast, Sound Museum Vision and more) "Exodus Island " "A Taste Of Sonar (its first time in Asia Sonar Festival)" as well. and also He did use Sound System for Jungle music first time in japan.
　Kuranaka (a.k.a 1945) also has been hugely successful with festival appearances throughout Japan, such as the Fuji Rock Festival, Rainbow 2000, Asagiri jam, Metamorphose, Earth Dance, Saturn, Dommune, Nagisa, Mai Music Festival , Outlook Festival and Sonar Festival. such as art museums (Yokohama Art Museum , Kyoto Municipal Museum of Art , London ICA etc), the Valley and Seaside, the gap of the Building and the top of the Desk, and the close to Your ears.
　Kuranaka has also toured Japan with Dub Reggaes such as Lee perry, Aba shanti-i , Jah shaka , Mad professor , Zion Train etc. then Drum and Bass / Jungles such as Roni size Reprazent, Congo Natty, Shy fx, Andy C and many. More then he play with Daftpunk , James Blake , Darren Emarson Underworld , Ash Ra Tempel , Atari Teenage Riot and many more in First visit japan show. he also Performed Flyng Lotus , Battles , The Orb , Smith&Mighty , Cold cut Ninja Tune etc. ofcouse he also with Japanese Acts such as Boredoms, Dj Krush , Audio Active , Tha Blue Herb , Dry&Heavy , Oki dub ainu , Goth-trad and many more.
　He perform live set with "Kazufumi Kodama" of Japanese reggae originator from Mute Beat. also Didgeridoo player "Goma" and then The controversial product "the Constitution of Japan" developed by a combination with "Shing02" for two International Art Festival (Yokohama Triennale, Kyoto Parasophia) It was created and released for one year.
　He also creates and plays music with Heavy (Dry&Heavy, Rebel Familia), Ao (Dry&heavy), Goma (didgeridoo), Coba (Accordion), NHK Koyxen, E-da（ex.Boredoms), Iccihie (ex.Determinations) , Tokona-x etc. He released (suchas) DJ Spooky , DJ Vadim also The Bug as the name of “MOU”, which is the pioneer Future Beat Music “Electlic Lady Land” from the well-known German’s “Mille PlateauxI” Moreover, as the name of “Kuranaka”, he attended compilation of “Kyogen” with Calm, Shing02 and so on. Furthermore, as the name of “1945”, he released featuring alongside ex-Dry&Heavy’s bassist, "Akimoto Heavy Takeshi". also released Mixs called “TIGHT” from “Entotsu Recordings”. He(and his Live CDs) amassed the sold out sales including all the titles. As a remixer, he sends deep world, dissembles and reconstructs masterpieces done by On-U Sound (UK) Audio Active , Rebel Familia, Original Love, Jun-Gold (Tha Blue Herb Recordings) and so on. The strong beats with the message is down to earth and very sensitive but mighty sense of “Past”, “Now”, and “Future”. We are fighting against the monsters of our own creation.
